A parent may move children across international boundaries with or without consent of the other parent – before, during, or after a formal legal case begins. When this happens, litigation will follow under international treaties called the Hague Convention, which protect children from the harmful effects of international abduction by a parent by encouraging the prompt return of abducted children to their country of habitual residence, or securing a parent’s rights of access to a child. Our team includes attorneys active in the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), with litigation experience in transnational custody and support actions in federal and state courts.
